APW - Hampden, Perry, 15J, 18S, heavy 14K multicolor gold original HC with rear having a diamond inset within an eight-point rose gold star centered in a multicolor rosette surround, rose gold front shield with initials "H B," black and white photo of woman pasted inside front, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#198523. Comes as pictured with a fitted box and with a 14.5-inch gold-filled chain with elk's tooth B.P.O.E. (Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks) fob. Gross weight of assembled watch 89.3 dwt (139.0 g). A beautiful piece with an excellent and well-documented provenance. This watch was originally a wedding anniversary president of prominent Rochester, New York resident Henry S. Brinker. Brinker was a very successful businessman and also had a celebrated military career ultimately achieving a rank of Major General. Henry S. Brinker also notably supplied the USS Henry Brinker steamship to the U.S. Navy for Union service in the Civil War where it saw active service in a number of engagements with Confederate forces, some of which are documented on its Wikipedia page which can be viewed at the following link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Henry_Brinker . Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered mild small surface spots and short micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with few fine scratches; nearly mint hands; case shows little wear, ding to rear toward left side, good overall engraving detail though with reduction most evident at shoulders; tight bow, crown shows medium wear with ridge break; box shows medium wear; chain shows light wear with small bits of wear to brass at some high points; fob shows light wear with wear to brass.
